For the last three years, Beck and a group of friends in Bamford have organised events in the village to celebrate International Women’s Day, including talks by various inspiring women, art and writing exhibitions, performances (and drama sessions to support people to perform), and a vinyl disco!

For 2020 we decided to take a break and instead take ourselves international!

It being early March, Seville was our chosen destination, being reasonably warm but not too long haul given that we only had the weekend. International Women’s Day fell on a Sunday this year so our plan was to fly out from Manchester on Friday afternoon and return by midnight on Sunday. We booked an apartment at the excellent Palacio Buenavista (complete with vending machine stocked with Moët!) and spent the weekend mooching around the city, sampling tapas and wine in various establishments and generally revelling in being in warm and sunny climes after the wet British winter.

We took up a couple of organised activities; an hours Flamenco lesson which was as informative as it was active, and spa session with massage which was thoroughly relaxing! All in all it was a great bonding weekend amongst friends that left us planning for next year!
